Udaygiri one of the Buddhist complexes situated in Jajpur district of Odisha is a prominent tourist attraction. Udaygiri Buddhist complex is existed and flourished in between 7th to 12th century. The wide range of excavation in and around Udaygiri includes the Madhavapura Mahavira monastery within it. A large brick monastery together with a number of Buddhist sculptures has been unearthed. There is also another brick monastery which is still not excavated apart from an in scripted stepped stone well and rock cut sculptures. The last of these is located at the top of the hill behind. Bodhisattva figures and Dhayani Buddha figures are other treasures recovered from this site.
